Visit to Stockholm tunnels
As there seems to be some resistance to putting creative lighting inside the Clyde tunnels, I have raised funding to pay for a visit to the Sodra Lanken tunnels in Stockholm, which have artistic lighting design in them. I had planned to go with someone from Glasgow City Council, but that fell through.
So, am going on my own... I'm very excited - I have heard it is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Stockholm is listed as one of the great waterfronts of the world (http://www.pps.org), so I am hoping to get some inspiration for the Clydewaterfront in Glasgow, which is moving from industrial to leisure use.
While I am there I will also visit the metro system, part of which is called the 'longest art gallery in Europe' because each station is designed by a different artist. I also want to see how they use their public spaces, to get some inspiration for the work I am doing with the community at the North exit of the tunnel to improve Whiteinch Cross. I will let you know how it all goes.....
